Frequently Asked Questions
Answers on how showlixir works with studios, what it covers, how we set clients up and how enquiries, quotations and payment run.
Questions studios ask us
These are the questions we hear most often from studio managers, producers and technical crews. If yours is not covered, write to us through the contact page and we will answer directly.
Who is showlixir designed for?
showlixir is built for studio managers, producers and technical crews at broadcasters and production companies. It suits newsrooms with daily bulletins as well as live entertainment productions. If your studio has shared equipment, several crews and a schedule that changes during the week, the platform is meant for you.
Can showlixir track our existing cameras and lenses?
Yes. Studio Equipment Management lets you record cameras, lenses, monitors and cabling across one or more studios, with booking and maintenance records kept against each item. You start from your own inventory, so nothing needs replacing. We help you set up the first lists and categories.
Do you help plan camera moves for a programme?
Camera Movement Planning covers dolly, jib and robotic camera moves for each programme. Moves are written down per show and shared with the floor crew, so operators and the director work from the same plan. Plans can be reused and adjusted when a format or set changes.
How do lighting and sound planning fit together?
Lighting Design Coordination holds lighting plots, rig schedules and cue lists, while Sound and Audio Workflow handles microphone allocation, mixing desk setups and audio checks. Both sit alongside the studio schedule, so a rig change and a sound check are visible to the same people. Tom Ashworth advises on templates for both.
Can it manage a live show gallery?
Live Show Gallery Coordination brings directors, vision mixers and technical staff onto one running order. Everyone sees the same sequence, so changes made before or during a show reach the whole gallery. It is used alongside the equipment and crew records rather than as a separate tool.
How do we start working with you?
Send an enquiry through the contact page describing your studios, crew size and the services you are interested in. We reply with questions if we need them, then issue a written quotation. Once you confirm it in writing, we invoice and begin the set-up with your team.
How is payment handled?
Nothing is bought on this website. After you confirm a written quotation we send an invoice, and you pay it by bank transfer using the details on the invoice. The prices page sets out what each service costs and what is included, so the quotation should hold no surprises.
What happens if we need to cancel?
Cancellations and refunds follow our payment and refund policy, which explains what applies at each stage of an engagement. If your plans change, tell us in writing as early as you can and we will confirm in writing how the policy applies to your quotation or invoice.
