What we coordinate for studios

Our six services cover the equipment, the people and the time a studio depends on. Each can be used alone or together, depending on whether you run daily bulletins or live shows.

  1. Studio Equipment Management

Cameras, lenses, monitors and cabling are recorded in one place across your studios. Booking and maintenance records show what is free, what is out for repair and what needs checking before the next programme.

  2. Camera Movement Planning

Dolly, jib and robotic camera moves are planned for each programme and written up clearly. The plan is shared with the floor crew, so operators know their positions and moves before rehearsal begins.

  3. Lighting Design Coordination

Lighting plots, rig schedules and cue lists are organised for news sets and live entertainment shows. Changes to a plot are visible to everyone who needs them, from the lighting desk to the floor manager.

  4. Sound and Audio Workflow

Microphone allocation, mixing desk setups and audio checks are managed before and during broadcast. Each presenter and guest has a recorded source, so sound teams are not guessing at the last minute.

  5. Newsroom Production Scheduling

Crews, studios and gallery time are coordinated so daily bulletins run to a plan people trust. Clashes between programmes are spotted early, and changes reach the whole team together.

  6. Live Show Gallery Coordination

Directors, vision mixers and technical staff work from one running order for live productions. Everyone sees the same sequence, which keeps calls in the gallery short and clear.

Why studios use it

Practical support for the daily rhythm of a studio

The platform is built around how studios actually run: early starts, late changes and many people sharing the same rooms and kit. It aims to remove guesswork, not add steps.

  • One shared picture

    One shared picture

Equipment, crews and schedules sit side by side, so a producer and a technical coordinator are always looking at the same plan.

  • Clear records

    Clear records

Booking and maintenance history stays attached to each item of kit, which makes handovers between shifts and studios much easier.

  • Built with floor experience

    Built with floor experience

Our tools follow routines familiar to floor managers and technical coordinators, so crews can pick them up without long training.

How we work

From first conversation to a steady studio routine

We start with how your studio runs today and shape the platform around that. Nothing is imposed on a crew in the middle of a production. Each step is agreed with you in writing before the next begins.

  1. Enquiry and first conversation

You contact us through the contact page and describe your studios, programmes and the problems that cost the most time. We ask about crew size, equipment and how plans are shared at present.

    What you leave with

A short written summary of your studio set-up and priorities

  2. Written quotation

Based on that summary, we send a quotation naming the services you need and what is included. If something is unclear or likely to change the cost, we say so in the document.

    What you leave with

A written quotation you can review and confirm

  3. Set-up with your templates

We enter your equipment, studios and recurring programmes, and help your team build planning templates for lighting, sound and camera moves. Daniel and Tom advise where routines need care.

    What you leave with

Working schedules, equipment records and planning templates

  4. Walk-through with the crew

We go through the setup with floor crews, gallery staff and producers, so each group sees its own view of the plan. Questions are noted and the setup is adjusted where needed.

    What you leave with

A crew that knows where to find its part of the plan

  5. Ongoing support

As programmes change, you can contact us to adjust templates or records. We keep the platform simple, so that day-to-day use stays quick and dependable.

    What you leave with

Records and plans that stay current as the studio changes

Frequently asked questions

Studio managers often ask the same practical questions before getting in touch. If yours is not covered here, the contact page is the quickest way to ask us directly.

Who is showlixir designed for?

The platform is made for studio managers, producers and technical crews at broadcasters and production companies. It suits newsrooms with daily bulletins as well as live entertainment productions with larger crews. If your studio shares kit, rooms and people between programmes, the tools are likely to be useful.

Can we use only one of the services?

Yes. Each service stands on its own, so you might begin with equipment management or newsroom scheduling and add others later. When services are used together, the records connect, which saves entering the same details twice. We will talk through the sensible starting point with you.

Does it replace our existing production tools?

Not necessarily. Many clients keep their editing, graphics and playout systems and use showlixir for the coordination around them: equipment, crews, schedules and planning documents. During the first conversation we ask what you already use and where the gaps are.

How do we get started?

Send an enquiry through the contact page describing your studios and programmes. We reply with questions if needed and then prepare a written quotation. Nothing is bought on the website itself, so there is no obligation until you confirm the quotation.

How is the work priced and paid for?

Prices are set out on our Prices page. After an enquiry we issue a written quotation, and once you confirm it we send an invoice, payable by bank transfer. Cancellations and refunds follow our payment and refund policy.

Will our crews need a lot of training?

Our tools follow routines that floor managers, vision mixers and sound staff already know, so most people find their way quickly. We run a walk-through with each group, showing the part of the plan that matters to them. Further questions can be sent to us afterwards.

Can you help with lighting and sound planning templates?

Yes. Tom Ashworth advises on sound and lighting workflows and helps clients set up planning templates for plots, cue lists and microphone allocation. Templates are based on your own studios and programmes, so they reflect how your crew actually works.

Where are you based?

Our office is at 14 Castle Street Works, Salisbury, SP1 1TT. You can phone us on 01722 410286 or write to [email protected]. We work with studios across the United Kingdom and are happy to arrange a conversation by phone first.
